HNA Group continues to face a severe liquidity crunch and said A330s had been parked at Airbus’ Toulouse production facilities for months because HNA was unable to pay for them.
Earlier this week, CDB announced it would acquire five A320s, two A321s and five B737-800s from Standard Chartered’s Pembroke Capital unit. No details were disclosed, except that all 12 aircraft would be transferred to CDB by the end of March.
CDB is growing fast. Last week, the company entered into a lease agreement with Palma de Mallorca-based Evelop Airlines, covering another A330-300 aircraft.
“We are pleased to welcome our new customer, Evelop Airlines, to CDB Aviation’s rapidly expanding European customer base,” said CDB Aviation CCO, Patrick Hannigan. “This wide body aircraft will bolster the airline’s fleet as it continues its ambitious growth and expansion of its flight network connecting European passengers to destinations in the Caribbean.” Last month, CDB added the 125th Airbus aircraft to its growing portfolio.
