Royal Brunei returns to Taipei as China Airlines partner

Read More » For the first time, Royal Brunei has partnered with Taiwanese flag carrier and SkyTeam member, China Airlines (CAL), on the route. The inaugural flight was operated by an A320neo with a “the very best of Brunei Tourism” livery.
“RB is very pleased to have China Airlines as our codeshare partner on our new route. Through this partnership, RB and CAL guests will enjoy the convenience of a seamless travel experience between both cities. We warmly welcome China Airlines guests on board our flights which will be operated by our game-changing A320neo,” Royal Brunei CEO, Karam Chand, said at the inaugural event attended by CAL president, Su-Chien Hsieh.
In November, the airline took delivery of its seventh A320neo giving Royal Brunei “the benefit of having one of the youngest fleets in the world with average age of just two years”, Chand said. The carrier’s remaining fleet is two A320ceo and five B787-8s.
Royal Brunei first flew to Taipei in 1986 but suspended the route in 2003 after SARS crippled passenger demand in the region. The airline hopes the route resumption will create sufficient tourism and business demand.
“Taipei is projected to be a key tourism and trade market for Brunei as well as a major contributor to RB’s network. With this new route, we have strengthened our regional network that will give increased connectivity options for our guests through the marketing of our single and dual destinations packages in all the cities we serve, including new destinations such as Kuching which we will operate effective 28 December 2018,” Chand said.
