Airbus China inks interiors partnership with Royole

Airbus China Innovation Centre (ACIC) this week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Royole Technology – a supplier of flexible displays, flexible sensors and foldable smartphones. Read More » The two parties will collaborate to develop applications that implement flexible electronic technologies in cabin environments and investigate the possibilities for commercial cooperation.
Airbus is dedicated to manufacturing aircraft which provide a better cabin experience for passengers. The Toulouse-headquartered OEM hopes the partnership with Royole will produce flexible displays and flexible sensors in the cabin, which in turn will create personalised cabin environments, improve safety and result in energy savings.
Based in Shenzhen, ACIC is the first innovation centre set up by Airbus in Asia. Its mission is to fully leverage local talent and combine this with Airbus' expertise in aerospace to explore breakthroughs in technologies, business models and new growth opportunities. ACIC is now fully operational. An official opening ceremony will take place in early 2019.
Founded by Stanford University engineering graduates in 2012, Royole's mission is to improve the way people interact with and perceive their world. The company creates and manufactures next-generation human-machine interface technologies and products including advanced flexible displays, flexible sensors, and smart devices.
