Jeju Air prepares to fly with Vietnamese cabin crew

Jeju Air on May 22 will commence flights staffed with Vietnamese cabin crew based in Vietnam, according to FN News. These are the first foreign cabin crew for Jeju. T’way was the first Korean LCC to use foreign cabin crew, who were also Vietnamese.

Jeju Air notes Vietnamese visitors to Korea have grown from 145,500 in 2014 to 457,800 in 2018, according to Korea Tourism Organization. The Vietnamese cabin crew naturally have a language advantage.

Larger growth in the Korea-Vietnam market is outbound Korea travel. Competition has intensified with upwards of 17 flights a day from Seoul to Da Nang, which has become a popular Korean getaway. There are additional flights from other Korean cities. Most are operated by Korean LCCs, with supplementary full-service flights and services from VietJet.

A job posting said Jeju’s Vietnam-based cabin crew would have an income of US$1,100-1,200 a month.
