Japan’s Skymark Airlines, which has the third largest pool of slots at Tokyo Haneda, has applied to re-list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, but the airline did not give a timeframe for the listing. During its 2015 bankruptcy period, it said it aimed to re-list in mid-2020.
All Nippon Airways holds 16.5% of Skymark, meeting a threshold for Japanese authorities to categorise Skymark as independent. Otherwise, Skymark’s Haneda slots could re-evaluated and redistributed. Skymark’s remaining shareholders are investment bank Integral (50.1%) and a 33.4% holding from a Development Bank of Japan and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) partnership.
Skymark recently announced two strategic developments. Firstly, it will resume service from Tokyo Narita, with twice a week flights to Nagoya. Secondly, Skymark is starting regular scheduled international flights.
Skymark will offer a daily Narita to Saipan flight. The airline tested the market from March to September this year with charters. Initially, Skymark said the service would begin by late December, but inventory displays seen by Airline Route announce flights from November 29.
