CODE-SHARES: Hawaiian Airlines and Japan Airlines (JAL) expanded their code-share agreement in November to include flights from Fukuoka to Osaka-Itami (JAL) and Fukuoka to Amami-Oshima, Hanamaki, Kochi, Matsumaya, Miyazaki, Sendai and Tokushima with J-Air. Read More »
ROUTES: Air China will add a three times a week Chongqing-Okinawa service to its network from December 27. Asiana Airlines will extend its Seoul Incheon-Sydney A380 daily flights to May. Juneyao Airlines will operate double daily between Shanghai and Tokyo Narita from January 10. LCC Nok Air will commence three times a week Bangkok Don Mueang-Hiroshima on December 19. Singapore Airlines will increase its Singapore-Mumbai service from 17 to 19 flights a week. Shandong Airlines inaugurated Yantai-Linyi-Bangkok three times a week on December 1 and Jian-Tokyo Haneda on January 7 at three times a week. Virgin Australia (VA) will launch Brisbane-Tokyo Haneda on March 29. VA also will resume Melbourne-Denpasar Bali five times a week from March 29 and reduce its Sydney-Auckland flights from 19 to 14 a week and Christchurch from four to three times a week. China Eastern Airlines plans network expansion to Australia and New Zealand that will increase services from Shanghai Pudong to Auckland to 11 a week, Shanghai Pudong-Brisbane to 10 a week and Shanghai-Pudong-Melbourne to 18 a week.
LEASING: SMBC Aviation will place six new A321neo with new customer, low-cost carrier Scoot. The aircraft will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engines and be delivered to the Singapore-headquartered carrier from year-end 2020 to 2021.
MANUFACTURERS: GoAir has selected Pratt & Whitney GTF engines to power the Indian LCC’s order of an additional 72 A320neo aircraft, with deliveries from 2021. The OEM also secured a long-term EngineWise comprehensive service agreement for the ordered GTF engines. On December 5, China Airlines and Pratt & Whitney confirmed the airline’s selection of the engine-maker’s GTF engine to power the 25 A321neos it has ordered along with five options for the type.
