Airbus commences A330-900 test flights with increased MTOW

Airbus said its new increased maximum take-off weight (MTOW) A330-900 commenced its flight test program on February 28, with certification expected in mid-2020. Read More » The aircraft's MTOW of 251 tonnes was six tonnes heavier than the 242-tonne A330-900 variant already in service. This represented either six tonnes more payload or a 650nm range increase to 7,200nm, according to figures from Airbus.
The manufacturer said certification of the increased MTOW weight variant of the smaller A330-800 was scheduled for 2021.
