Malaysia Airlines suspending international flights but maintaining limited domestic network

In addition to the shutdown of its international operations, MAB will operate a limited domestic network during the northern hemisphere summer season, to the end of October.
It also would operate charter flights for the repatriation of citizens as required.
"Due to the extended travel restrictions imposed by governments worldwide to contain the spread of COVID-19 as well as the uncertainty surrounding it, Malaysia Airlines will suspend flight operations across our network until May 2020 for domestic flights and June 2020 for international services," the MAB website said.
An analysis of MAB's flight schedules showed the last international services before the suspension would be the rotation between Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta on April 30 followed by Kuala Lumpur-Guangzhou on May 4. From that date, all international flights will be suspended.
The flag carrier planned to operate a limited domestic service initially focused on connecting Kuala Lumpur with the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, before expanding to intra-Peninsula Malaysia routes from the second half of May.
MAB announced this week all passengers would be required to wear protective masks from check-in, boarding, in the aircraft cabin, disembarkation and at baggage collection.
"Malaysia Airlines will not accept passengers who do not wear a face mask at the time of check-in and boarding," the airline said.
