All Nippon Airways (ANA) said this week it would operate a 90-minute scenic flight around Tokyo on August 22 with its A380 "Flying Honu". Read More » The flight was aimed at those dreaming of a summer vacation or overseas holiday while international borders were closed during the pandemic, the airline said in a statement. Should the number of applications exceed the 520 seats on board the four-class A380, passengers would be drawn as a lottery. 

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plans to issue a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) for an Airworthiness Directive (AD) affecting the grounded Boeing 737 MAX "in the near future". After the NPRM is issued, there would be a 45-day public comment period for the proposed design changes and crew procedures resulting from the grounding of the type after the fatal crashes of MAXs operated by Lion Air and an Ethiopian Airlines, the FAA statement said.  

Japan’s Peach Aviation is returning to Terminal 1 at Tokyo Narita Airport from its current base at Terminal 3 on October 25, 2020, the LCC has announced. The ANA group airline, which has been based at Narita's Terminal 3 since October 2019, said being in a terminal directly connected to the train station would offer passengers greater convenience. As well, located alongside 50 other domestic and international carriers at Terminal 1 would allow Peach passengers to more easily transit to connecting flights.

Taiwan's legislature passed a resolution this week that called for the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) to study changing the name of the country's flag carrier, China Airlines (CAL). The resolution said the ministry should consider a phased plan for the renaming of CAL. Initially, it could involve more distinctive symbols of Taiwan on its aircraft, local media reported this week.

Boeing’s Global Services arm has signed a supply chain agreement with All Nippon Airways (ANA) to install a 787-9 galley facility at the airline's new training centre and written an agreement for 10 767 quick engine change kits.

The company also has announced Xiamen Airlines, Japan Airlines (JAL) and ANA had signed up for its optimised maintenance program aimed to make maintenance operations more efficient. Separately, Indian carrier, Vistara, has signed a multi-year agreement for Boeing's crew pairing product to help manage the airline's 1,100 crew members across its fleet of 40 aircraft.
