AirAsia Malaysia reports 90% passenger collapse in final three months of 2020

AirAsia Malaysia carried 834,934 passengers in the three months to December 31, 2020, down 90% from 8.7 million a year earlier, parent AirAsia Group said in a filing to the Bursa Malaysia today. Read More » AirAsia Malaysia capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), declined 94% in the quarter and passenger load factor was 10 percentage points lower, at 72%. The combined passenger numbers for AirAsia Group's Malaysia, India and Philippine affiliates collapsed by 90%, to 1.3 million, from 13.2 million previously. It was a better picture at AirAsia Thailand, which flew 2.8 million passengers in the three months to December 31, 2020, down 48% from 5.4 million in the previous corresponding period.
