Asiana Airlines reports strong air cargo business offsetting depressed passenger demand

South Korea's Asiana Airlines recorded a net loss of 265 billion won (US$239 million) for calendar 2020, an improvement from a net loss of 763 billion won a year earlier. Read More » Revenue declined by 40%, to 3.56 trillion won, South Korea’s second international carrier said yesterday. In a positive trend, the airline posted a net profit of 165.8 billion won for the three months to last December 31 compared with a 325 billion won net loss in the same months in 2019. The strong performance of its cargo business achieved a 64% lift in sales, to 2.1 trillion won, in calendar 2020 over 12 months earlier and helped offset a passenger decline from COVID-19.
