China Eastern reports 39% domestic passenger decline for January

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) said it flew 5.1 million passengers on its domestic network in January, down 39% from 8.3 million a year ago. Read More » Domestic capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), declined 22%, CEA said in its monthly traffic report published yesterday. The domestic load factor was 60.4%, compared with 74.7% 12 months earlier. "The strike and impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic on the international and domestic businesses of the company have great uncertainty in terms of their time span and severity," CEA said.
