Rehabilitated Virgin Australia cuts free food for economy passengers in onboard menu review

Virgin Australia (VA) said today it is reviewing its business and economy class fares at the hybrid carrier following its emergence from voluntary administration last November. The carrier has reduced business class fares by 20% compared with pre-COVID-19.
In another change, the airline today introduced a buy onboard food menu, which will replace free snacks in economy, and a new business class menu. The decision to eliminate complimentary snacks was made after consultation with customers, the airline said. "By removing snacks that are not valued by our guests we can structurally reduce airfares making it even cheaper to fly," VA CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka, said.
