Read More » Routes served by the 777s will be flown with A350-900s or internationally configured aircraft. "JAL has decided to accelerate the retirement of all P&W equipped 777s to March 2021, a strategy originally planned by March 2022," the airline said. "To address this issue, the carrier introduces state-of-the-art A350-900 with low noise and fuel efficient engines to Osaka (Itami) routes, and put international aircraft on domestic routes, so the carrier can maintain the frequency of flights." JAL halted 777-200 and 777-300 operations in February after an incident on one of its flights operating from Naha to Tokyo. The Japanese Ministry of Transport had suspended operations of flights with PW4000 engines. It said in February JAL had 13 aircraft equipped with the engine type.
