Airbus pioneering aviation engineer, Bernard Ziegler, passes away at 88

Pioneering aviation engineer and test pilot, Bernard Ziegler, has died at age 88. Read More » Paying tribute to Ziegler, Airbus said he was instrumental in the introduction of the world's first digital fly-by-wire technology introduced aboard the A320 in 1988. His four decades at Airbus began in 1972 as chief test pilot. He rose through the ranks as the company expanded to become senior vice president of engineering. He retired in 1997. "Thank you Bernard Ziegler, Airbus owes you so much," Airbus CEO, Guillaume Faury, said on Twitter.
