Japan Airlines reduces July domestic schedule

Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced more reductions in its domestic schedule in response to changed market conditions due to COVID-19. Read More » The cancellation of an additional 586 flights between July 1 and July 16 meant JAL plans to fly 74% of its normal domestic flying pattern in the month, down two percentage points from the 76% operation rate outlined in the airline's previous schedule update of two weeks ago. "The carrier is expecting a slight decline in travel demand in response to the number of COVID-19 cases reported in Japan," JAL said. Despite these most recent flight cancellations, the July operation rate was up from June's 61%. The Summer Olympic Games is due to be held in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8.
