July 29th 2021
Figures from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed international air travel demand, or revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), was down 60.1% in June compared with the same month in 2019. Read More » Capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), was 51.6% below 2019 levels for the month. The numbers were better for domestic markets, where RPKs and AKSs in June were 22.4% and 15.5% below 2019 levels, respectively. "We are seeing movement in the right direction, particularly in some key domestic markets. But the situation for international travel is nowhere near where we need to be," IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said.
