Japan Airlines reports sixth straight monthly improvement in international passengers

Passengers flown on the international network of Japan Airlines (JAL) rose for a sixth straight month in August. Read More » The monthly traffic report said the airline carried 80,039 passengers on international flights in August, up 36.2% from 58,784 passengers carried in July. The oneworld alliance member's international passenger numbers have more than tripled since hitting a low of 26,041 in February. However, the August figure was down 90.1% from the airline's reported 806,389 international passengers transported in August two years ago. International capacity, measured by available seat kilometres, was at 38% of pre-COVID-19 levels. JAL said domestic passenger numbers declined by 6.8%, to 1.2 million in August, from 1.3 million in July. The figure was 63.6% below the 3.3 million domestic passengers flown in the same month in 2019.
