IndiGo and American Airlines sign codeshare deal

IndiGo and American Airlines (AA) have agreed a deal that will see the U.S. carrier’s code on 29 domestic routes across India. Read More » The codeshare requires U.S. and Indian government approvals, but it is expected to begin next month. AA said the deal will provide convenient options for customers arriving on its new Bengaluru and Delhi flights. The U.S. airline is scheduled to start flights from New York JFK to Delhi on October 31 and from Seattle to Bengaluru on January 4. “Whether our customers are traveling for business or pleasure, this new partnership makes it easy to reach all four corners of India,’’ said American Airlines chief revenue officer, Vasu Raja. “Today, we are adding 29 routes to our map as a result of this agreement, providing customers with even more options around the globe.” The codeshare allows members of AA’s AAdvantage frequent flyer program to earn miles when travelling on IndiGo flights.
