Airbus records one aircraft order in September

Airbus delivered 40 aircraft in September as the European manufacturer received just one order for the month. Read More » The delivery rate was slower than the 57 planes accepted by customers in September last year. However. the year-to-date figure of 424 deliveries to 74 customers remains ahead of last year’s equivalent September total of 341 aircraft. It also leaves Airbus within reach of its 2021 goal of 600 deliveries for the year. The single order from a private customer for an A319neo contrasted with a healthy 102 orders in August. Separately, Airbus announced its Zephyr S solar-powered high-altitude aircraft had completed 36 days of stratospheric flight and set a new world height record for its class at 76,100 ft. The latest test campaign comprised four low-level flights and two stratospheric flights of 18 days each carrying an advanced optical earth observation system. The flights were designed to demonstrate how Zephyr could be used for future operations, flying outside of restricted airspace and over airspace shared with commercial air traffic.
