She told reporters in Sarawak her department had been asked to prepare countries to which the resort island would open first. If successful, the scheme will be extended to other countries. The Bernama news agency quoted Nancy as saying strict procedures will be in place to curb the spread of COVID-19. “The procedures include ensuring arriving tourists use tour agents registered with the ministry,’’ she said. Malaysia wants to see the economic benefits of tourism flowing again now vaccinations rates are reaching critical levels. Earlier this month, Malaysia Airports attributed a 74% increase in domestic traffic between August and September to the Langkawi travel bubble and the progress being made by Malaysia’s National Recovery Plan.
