New International airport mooted for Malaysia’s east coast

Read More » Local media said the state government had been asked to conduct an in-depth study into the project as part of the Pahang state government’s plan to develop an aerospace city in Gebeng by 2050. “There is a need to build a new airport because there is no international airport on the east coast. It will provide better transport infrastructure facilities, revive the economy and the tourism sector,’’ chief minister of Pahang, Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, said. “We also are taking into account the fact we cannot expand the existing airport (Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport) because it belongs to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and that may involve security factors.”
