Read More » The LCC has selected the Trent 700 to power its fleet as well as the Rolls-Royce TotalCare maintenance package. “We are thrilled VietJet has chosen our Trent 700 engines to support its fleet development,” Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace chief customer officer, Ewen McDonald, said. “The Trent 700 has the lowest lifetime fuel burn and the best economics on its aircraft type. In addition, our TotalCare service will help VietJet maximise the value of its engine assets and increase time-on-wing performance.” Although the announcement, somewhat unusually, did not mention an aircraft type, the Trent 700 was specifically developed for the A330. It has logged more than 60 million hours in service since its launch in 1995. VietJet managing director, Dinh Viet Phuong, said the engine will introduce a technology breakthrough to Vietjet’s fleet “helping improve flight range and quality and thereby boosting our aircraft’s technical reliability and operational efficiency”. The airline is looking to “expand its wings across continents”.
