Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways has unveiled plans to fly directly to the UK with services to London Heathrow from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City operating from the end of the year. Read More » Bamboo will commence the routes with a frequency of six return trips a week flying 787-9s and plans to increase the services to daily in 2022, a post on the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam’s website states. The direct route will shorten travelling time between the two countries to 12 to 13 hours, saving about seven hours compared with transit flights, the post said. It noted the service will strengthen Vietnam’s position as a gateway to Indochina and contribute to developing trade and people-to-people exchanges, serving more than 100,000 Vietnamese studying, living and working in the UK. Bamboo, which will be represented in the UK by local firm APG UK, also is spreading its wings to the U.S. where it began selling tickets for its flights last month.
