Global communications company, Viasat, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire satellite specialist, Inmarsat, in a transaction valued at US$7.3 billion. The deal involves US$850 million in cash, approximately 46.36 million shares of Viasat common stock valued at US$3.1 billion and the assumption of $3.4 billion of net debt. MTU Aero Engines (MTU) has assumed 100% control of Amsterdam-based engine leasing business, MTU Maintenance Lease Services (MLS), after buying the 20% holding of Japanese partner, Sumitomo Corp. The German company also sold its 10% share in SMBC Aero Engine Lease B.V. to Sumitomo Mitsui Finance & Leasing (SMFL). It said both companies will continue their close collaboration.
