Airbus has signed a trilateral agreement with Thales and Diehl Aerospace for the joint development of the flight control computers of CityAirbus NextGen, the electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle (eVTOL) being developed by the European OEM. Atlas Air has expanded its partnership with Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, to boost shipping efficiency in response to the growth of cross-border trade between China and Latin America. With the launch of daily flights, Cainiao’s weekly cargo volume from China to Latin America has increased 144% compared with October 2020 when there were only three chartered flights per week. Meanwhile, Atlas Air and the operations of Southern Air are now under a Single Operating Certificate (SOC). Atlas said the addition of Southern Air into the group will allow it to add 777 and 737 aircraft to its operations resulting in a more diversified company offering customers access to a wider range of aircraft, a broader array of services, greater scale and an expanded global footprint.
Etihad Engineering has been awarded a heavy maintenance contract by Virgin Australia for its 737 fleet. The contract covers heavy maintenance and modification services on more than 30 aircraft.
