The airline will now operate six of the seven government-regulated routes in Queensland for the next five years at a time it is increasing its footprint in the state. The airline’s general manager of network strategy, Warrick Lodge, attributed the win to the fact Rex had acquitted itself well on promises it had made to the Queensland government. “We have exceeded all KPIs, achieved record customer satisfaction ratings and have not had a single missed flight in the last seven years to the 23 communities we serviced under the contract,’’ he said. The victory came as new government figures showed some improvement in domestic operations during September, with 1.29 million passengers carried on Australian domestic scheduled and charter services, compared with 1.02 million travellers in September 2020 . However, the numbers were still well down on the 5.42 million passengers transported in September 2019.
