Thai AirAsia parent seals final tranche of US$432 million capital raising

Asia Aviation Plc (AAV), the parent company of Thai AirAsia, has signed the third and final phase of a 14 billion baht (US$432 million) capital raising that has increased its working capital and boosted liquidity. Read More » The company said it had raised three billion baht through a fully subscribed rights offering to existing shareholders. The latest funding exercise follows a private placement that reaped 8.8 billion baht for the airline group and the sale of convertible bonds valued at 2.2 billion baht. Asia Aviation Plc and Thai AirAsia executive chairman, Tassapon Bijleveld, said the capital raising plan signalled strong support and confidence from shareholders [in the company] despite the current economic doldrums. “We would like to express our gratitude to the shareholders and investors for their support and trust in the board of directors and the executive committee of AAV and Thai AirAsia," he said.
