Asia-Pacific markets among the slowest to recover from COVID-19: OAG

Read More » The Hong Kong market topped the list at just 17.5% of pre-COVID-19 levels, with capacity of 148,104 seats in the week of January 24. Taiwan, identified as Chinese Taipei in the OAG report, was second at 23.6%, or 216,904 seats, in 2022, and Singapore was third at 28.2%, or 245,502 seats, in 2022. "The top three countries are all dependant on international capacity, specifically to China, Australia and New Zealand, which makes any noticeable improvement very unlikely in the first half of this year given how things stand now," the OAG report said. The Philippines was fourth at 31.6%, with Thailand (33%) fifth and South Korea ninth (46.4%). The only markets outside the Asia-Pacific in the top 10 were Germany (7 or 44.5%), the U.K. (8 or 46.5%), and Sweden 10th at 48.3%.
