Flag carrier boosts Australia schedule as New Zealand prepares to relax border rules

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) has scheduled more than 300 flights to Australia in March in response to the New Zealand government's planned relaxation of its international border. "As expected, we have seen strong demand following the announcement with our first flights, on February 28, almost sold out." New Zealand prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, unveiled the country's border reopening last week, starting with allowing vaccinated New Zealanders and eligible people in Australia to travel to New Zealand without the need to complete two weeks of quarantine in a government facility. In coming months, the scheme will be extended to other countries and to international students and skilled workers with the border to fully reopen by October.
