Malaysia Aviation Group signs lease for 25 737 MAXs

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent of Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB), has signed a long-term lease for 25 737 MAX 8s with Air Lease Corporation (ALC). Read More » The aircraft will be delivered in the 2023-2026 timeframe, ALC said. MAG CEO, Captain Izham Ismail, said the leasing agreement was "tied to the restructured terms of our existing order book with Boeing" and that ALC was chosen after a detailed tender process. "We are happy to have in ALC a partner committed to be part of our future endeavours as outlined in our Long-Term Business Plan 2.0 (LTBP 2.0)," Captain Ismail said. "The 737-8 is critical to LTBP2.0 with its superior product offerings and better fleet performance, including improved fuel efficiencies of up to 15%." The Boeing website states MAG had orders for 25 737 MAXs powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines.
