IATA's Walsh says air travel demand improving as restrictions ease

International Air Transport Association (IATA) director general, Willie Walsh, said ticket sales are improving as governments ease border restrictions and vaccinated travellers regain the confidence to fly again. Read More » The airline lobby group said the seven-day moving average for international ticket sales was at 49% of 2019 levels on February 8, an 11 percentage point improvement from 38% on January 25. "Vaccinated travellers have the potential to travel much more extensively with fewer hassles than even a few weeks ago," Walsh said. "This is giving growing numbers of travellers the confidence to buy tickets. And that is good news!"
