Singapore to lift vaccinated travel lane caps
February 18th 2022
The Civil Aviation Administration of Singapore (CAAS) is removing the cap on travellers arriving on vaccinated travel lane (VTL) flights and will gradually increase its daily quota of inbound travellers from 5,000 to 15,000 by March 4. Read More » Ticket sales on incoming VTLs were suspended from December 22 to January 20 in response to the Omicron COVID-19 variant. Since January 21, ticket sales on designated VTL flights into Singapore have been capped at 50% of the allocated quota. The CAAS said Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will join the VTL from February 25, after their inclusion was put on hold late in 2021 due to Omicron, and Israel and the Philippines will join the VTL program from March 4. Hong Kong too will be added to the VTL list and the VTL scheme with Thailand will be widened to all cities in Thailand. "The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will restore and extend the vaccinated travel lane and put back on track its plans to reopen Singapore’s borders safely and reclaim Singapore’s position as a global air hub," the CAAS said.
