Pakistan flag carrier plans nonstop Lahore-Sydney flights from April

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will operate nonstop between Lahore and Sydney, the airline has announced on its social media sites. Read More » "Australia! The Wait is over! #PIA is starting direct flights between #Pakistan & #Australia. #Lahore ⇔ #Sydney," PIA said. No launch date was listed, but local media has reported the airline will fly the route once a week, from April 22, with 777s. Lahore to Sydney measures 5,485nm according to the Great Circle mapper. PIA has 777-200ERs, 777-200LRs and 777-300ERs in its fleet. Flights from Karachi to Australia also are planned, the airline said. In February, Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) told local media it had received an application from PIA for a foreign air transport air operator certificate.
