IATA says 50% of the world's top 50 air travel markets have no entry requirements for vaccinated passengers

International Air Transport Association (IATA) director general, Willie Walsh, said the world was "largely open for travel", with figures from the airline lobby group showing 25 of the world's top 50 air travel markets were welcoming vaccinated international passengers without quarantine measures or COVID-19 testing requirements. "That is great news for a growing number of destinations that will receive a much needed economic boost from the upcoming Easter and Northern Summer travel seasons." However, the Asia- Pacific is still lagging other markets. While the region had 16 of the top 50 air travel markets, only six, or 37.5%, were open to vaccinated travellers without quarantine requirements, the lowest percentage of the five regions in the IATA report. "Hopefully, recent relaxations including Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan and the Philippines are paving the way to restoring the freedom to travel that is more broadly enjoyed in other parts of the world,” Walsh said. All the top 50 markets in Africa, the Americas and the Middle East were at 100% with Europe at 90%.
