China domestic passenger numbers increase 9% month-on-month in January

Airlines in China flew 29.4 million passengers on domestic flights in January, up 9% month-on-month from 27 million passengers in December 2021, figures from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) show. Read More » Despite the month-on-month gain, the January figure was 2.1% lower than the 30 million domestic passengers carried in the same month in 2021. Domestic passenger load factor for the 31 days was 63.9% compared with 65.6% in December and 64% in January 2021. An indication of the long road back to pre-COVID-19 levels for airlines in China is provided by its domestic passenger load factor for January 2019. For that 31 days China transported 47.3 million passengers on domestic flights.
