South Korea ministry outlines reopening of international air travel

South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said the country aimed to have international flights back to about 50% of pre-COVID-19 levels by the end of 2022. Read More » Under a three-phase plan, the MOLIT said international flights will return to Cheongju, Jeju and Muan airports in May with Seoul Gimpo and Yangyang to follow in June. The number of international aircraft movements per hour at Seoul Incheon airport also will be lifted. In phase two, Seoul Incheon is forecast to have a significant rise in international flights, from 920 a week in July to 2,420 weekly by November. The MOLIT said all aviation policies will be normalised in phase three, when COVID-19 will become an endemic disease. No date has been set for the introduction of phase three.
