Australia's competition regulator will take “no further action” on Qantas Group’s 19.9% investment in Alliance Air

Alliance Aviation Services, parent company of Australia’s Alliance Air, said the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) planned no further action regarding the Qantas Group’s purchase of 19.9% of the domestic charter airline. Read More » In a regulatory filing to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) late last week, Alliance said it had received written notice from the ACCC saying “although the ACCC is not proposing to take any further enforcement action at this point in time in relation to this matter, it will continue to monitor the conduct of Qantas in the industry in relation to Alliance and may take action at a later time”. The Qantas Group purchased 19.9% of Alliance Air in early 2019. It has said it planned to seek ACCC approval to increase its shareholding in the carrier and had a longer-term aim of taking a majority position in the fly-in, fly out and charter services operator.
