Cathay Pacific Airways chief customer and commercial officer, Ronald Lam, said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government's recent easing of some travel and transit restrictions had led to increasing passenger demand after a difficult March when passenger capacity was at 2% of pre-COVID-19 levels. Read More » “We welcome the lifting of the transit ban and the place-specific suspension mechanism, the rationalisation of the flight-specific suspension mechanism and the reduction of the mandatory quarantine period for both travellers and aircrew alike in April," Lam said. "However, travel and operational restrictions remain stringent and we have only been able to achieve a modest increase to our passenger flight capacity. We are seeing improved demand for passenger flights and have been trying our best to operate additional services." The oneworld alliance member carried 30,628 passengers in March, down 2% month-on-month from 31,253 passengers transported in February. But encouragingly the figure was 65.2% above the 18,539 passengers flown in March 2021.
