Australian international passengers down 1.4% in February

There were 436,432 air travellers who flew into and out of Australia in February, down 1.4% month-on-month from 442,608 international passengers in January, the Australian Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) reports. Capacity was 78.9% lower, at 891,109 seats, from 4.2 million seats in February 2019. "International passenger traffic continues to be severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic," the BITRE report for February 2022 said. Singapore Airlines (SIA) was Australia's largest international carrier by passengers for the month, with a 20.5% market share, followed by Qantas (16.2%) and Emirates Airline (13.8%). SIA group carrier, Scoot, was the only LCC in the top 10, claiming 10th place with a 2.7% share of the market.
