AirAsia India launches fare war

AirAsia India launched in early June, offering fares of $17 on its maiden route between Bangalore, India’s IT capital and the coastal resort city of Goa. "Some airlines (are) scared of us. We must be doing something right. Help us people of India. Don't let cartels win and not let ordinary man fly," AirAsia’s Tony Fernandes wrote in a post on Twitter last week after some Indian airlines made a last ditch effort to delay the launch – despite its inevitability.
AirAsia India will fly its A320 aircraft from Bangalore to Goa and Chennai first, with no concessions for free check in luggage or return of refunds on cancelled tickets. The carrier intends to have 10 aircraft flying to 10 Indian cities by mid-2015.
