The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Airline Catering Association (ACA) have released an updated Standard Inflight Catering Agreement (SICA) aimed at improving the efficiency of inflight catering procurement across the world. The partners said the new SICA template will be unveiled at the 34th IATA ground handling conference (IGHC) being held in Paris from May 31 to June 2.
G3 Global Berhad said in a regulatory filing to the Bursa Malaysia that Malaysia Airports had awarded it a 118 million ringgit contract to design and develop an airport integrated security and safety system for Kuala Lumpur International Airport and klia2. The project, to be undertaken with Hong Kong-listed SenseTime, is scheduled for completion in 2024.
Sabre Corporation’s new survey, Mapping Travel's New Normal, which polled the views of 500 airline and travel agency decision-makers worldwide, found one third of respondents believed travel will return to pre-pandemic levels by December 2024. Another 33% expected a full recovery in the industry in 2025.
Spirit AeroSystems has reported a net loss of US$53 million for the three months to March 31, an improvement from a net loss of US$172 million in the same months in 2021. Revenue improved 30%, to US$1.2 billion, the company said in a regulatory filing. Spirit AeroSystems CEO, Tom Gentile, said there were ongoing challenges to the company's recovery from the pandemic -Russia's invasion of Ukraine, supply chain disruptions and inflation - that added to some "downward revisions in schedule to some programs". Gentile said the largest Spirit AeroSystems program, the 737 MAX, had recently increased production to 31 ship sets per month and is expected to maintain that rate through 2022.
