China Eastern Airlines receives approval to maintain alternative route to New York JFK

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has received approval to continue to operate its New York JFK-Shanghai Pudong service from an alternative Chinese airport. Read More » The U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT) said late last week it had approved a CEA request to fly the twice a week service from New York JFK to Fuzhou until the end of May. The DoT had previously approved the route for April. The China destination change was necessary following a Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) instruction to divert Shanghai-bound flights from the U.S. to other designated airports in China after Shanghai was ordered into lockdown.
