India records 10.9 domestic air passengers in April

India’s airlines flew 10.9 million passengers on domestic flights in April, up 1.7% month-on-month from the 10.7 million passengers carried in March. Read More » The April figure was 90.1% above the 5.7 million domestic passengers transported in the same month in 2021, figures from India's Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) show. LCC IndiGo was India's largest domestic airline for the month, with 6.4 million passengers transported or 58.9% of domestic market share. Go First was in second place with 1.1 million passengers, or 10.2% of the in-country market, followed by SpiceJet (one million passengers, 9.2% market share) and Vistara (904,000 passengers, 8.3% market share). For a comparison with pre-COVID-19 levels, India's airlines flew 11 million passengers on domestic services in April 2019.
