Air travel bookings on the path to recovery: IATA report

The International Air Travel Association (IATA) said ticket sales for international travel caught up with fare sales for domestic travel in May as restrictions severely limiting cross border journeys were eased worldwide. Read More » The lightening of the burden of travel restrictions and strong pent-up demand meant international bookings were catching up, IATA said. “Presently, international and domestic sales are at 66% and 72% of 2019 levels, respectively. Sales for international travel even exceeded domestic travel revenue for a few days in early May,” the association said. But it cautioned there was still a “high degree of volatility and uncertainty” resulting in shorter lead times for bookings.
