India’s Akasa Air announces lease mandate for five 737-8 MAXs

India’s newest carrier, Akasa Air, has signed a purchase and leaseback agreement with Griffin Global Asset Management for five 737 MAX 8 aircraft with deliveries to begin this month. Akasa Air CEO, Vinay Dube, said the “high degree of confidence and endorsement” from Griffin was a testimony to the airline's “robust and sustainable future”. Previously, Akasa Air has said it intended to launch commercial operations next month.
