Competition regulator green lights Virgin Australia’s application for codeshare pricing with international partners

In a draft determination, Australia’s competition regulator has approved, with immediate effect, Virgin Australia's (VA) proposed codeshare pricing agreements with Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines. Read More » VA applied to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to allow its international airline partners to set fares for the international long-haul flights it sold as codeshare services. “These arrangements are likely to promote competition in long-haul international services by assisting Virgin Australia to re-establish its international operations in the longer term,” ACCC deputy chair, Mick Keogh, said. Responses to the draft decision must be submitted to the ACCC by July 29.
