Melbourne Airport reports doubling of passengers in latest fiscal year

Australia’s Melbourne Airport processed 12.9 million passengers in the 12 months to June 30, up 110% from the 6.2 million travellers transporting through the capital city airport in the year-ago period. Read More » Domestic passengers increased by 85%, to 11 million, and international passengers jumped 736%, to 1.9 million. In an indication of the recovery from COVID-19, Melbourne Airport said the 1.8 million domestic passengers recorded for June 2022 was 7% below the pre-pandemic total of two million domestic passengers in June 2019. “As we welcome back more domestic travellers, we are giving our terminals a much needed upgrade,” Melbourne Airport CEO, Lorie Argus, said, noting new facilities in Terminal 4 and the renovations underway at Terminal 1. “It’s part of our mission to become Australia’s favourite airport destination.”
