Boeing lowers 20-year commercial market forecast

In its 2022-2041 Commercial Market Outlook (CMO), Boeing writes it expects airlines to accept 41,170 new aircraft in the next two decades, a downward forecast of 5.6%, or 2,440 new aircraft deliveries, from a year ago. Read More » The latest CMO compares with Boeing’s 2021-2040 CMO of 43,610 new aircraft deliveries. The forecast also was 6.5% below the 44,040 new aircraft deliveries forecast in the OEM’s (pre-COVID-19) 2019-2038 CMO. “Despite the unprecedented disruption of the past two years, the aviation industry has shown incredible resilience in adapting to the challenge,” Boeing senior vice president commercial sales and marketing, Ihssane Mounir, said. “The 2022 CMO draws upon our expertise in forecasting market trends to demonstrate strong demand for new airplanes and related services in the coming decades, providing a waypoint as the industry continues to navigate its recovery.”
