Kuala Lumpur International Airport records 12.4% air traveller increase

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) said Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) handled 2.3 million passengers in July, an increase of 12.4% from the 2.1 million travellers it processed in June. Read More » The latest numbers also were an improvement from 107,000 passengers the airport processed in July 2021. “The recovery of international passenger movements has continued in Malaysia,” MAHB’s traffic report for the month said. “The recent announcement to remove pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 tests, home surveillance orders and quarantine for all inbound travellers to Malaysia from August 1 generates optimism that international [air] movements can recover further.” Compared with pre-COVID-19 activity, KLIA’s passenger numbers for the reported month were 42.8% of the 5.5 million domestic and international passengers processed through the airport in July 2019.
